Re: Gearcase and exhaust housing extension nuts coming loose

Dear Evinrude Owner®,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. BRP is conducting a safety recall on certain Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard models, built in June or July of 2017.

Our records show that you are the owner of an Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard model equipped with the gearcase nuts affected by this recall.


Which models are involved?

Certain Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard models, built in June or July of 2017.

What is the potential problem?

The nuts on the gearcase, and on the exhaust housing extension (if applicable), may become loose, allowing the gearcase assembly to detach from the outboard engine. In some circumstances, this situation may initiate an abrupt change in direction and loss of steering, which could cause serious injury or even death.

BINNACLE MOUNT REMOTE CONTROLS – LOSS OF CONTROL HAZARD

Re: Binnacle mount remote controls – Loss of control hazard

Dear Evinrude Owner®,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. BRP is conducting a safety recall on ICON Single and Dual Lever Binnacle Mount Remote Controls and ICON II Dual Lever Binnacle Mount Remote Controls.

Our records show that you are the owner of an Evinrude E-TEC outboard equipped with an ICON or ICON II Binnacle Mount Remote Control(s) affected by this recall. 

Which models are involved?

ICON or ICON II Binnacle Mount Remote Control(s) requires an important service procedure.

What is the potential problem?

A limited number of binnacle mount remote control levers designed and assembled by our supplier, SeaStar Solutions, may be incorrectly assembled and pull away from the remote control resulting in loss of throttle and shift control. In some circumstances, this situation may cause serious injury or even death.

LOSS OF HYDRAULIC STEERING FLUID - LOSS OF CONTROL HAZARD

Re: Loss of hydraulic steering fluid - Loss of control hazard

Dear Evinrude Owner®,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. BRP is conducting a safety recall on specific Evinrude E-TEC outboards. Our records show that you are the owner of an Evinrude E-TEC outboard equipped with a steering system affected by this recall.

Which models are involved?

Evinrude E-TEC outboard equipped with a steering system.

What is the potential problem?

The two T45 pipe plugs on the outboard’s stern and swivel assembly were not sufficiently tightened and can loosen, potentially creating the loss of hydraulic steering fluid. In some circumstances, this situation may result in a loss of steering control and possibly cause serious injuries or even death.

A limited number of outboards may have a steering component which is incorrectly assembled. In some circumstances, this situation may result in a loss of steering control and possibly cause serious injuries or even death.
